The academy covers eight management areas:
- Safety: Topics covered will include safety duties and responsibilities for managers, accident costs and impact, experience modification rate, insurance, compliance with healthy and safety regulations, hazard control and pre-planning, evaluating sub-contractors safety performance, behavior safety process and safety case studies.
- Industry Ethics: Addresses ethical dilemmas faced by project managers. Should you do the job right or just get the job done?
- Client Relations: Discussion of tactics for working with both public officials and private sector clients.
- Team Building: Series of group exercises to discover the value of teambuilding and cooperation.
- Construction Documentation: Covers the importance of construction documentation to several aspects of contract administration. These include notice requirements for change orders, scheduling and delay provisions, bonds and liens, design claims, differing site conditions, acceleration claims, impact claims and others.
- Management and Leadership: Examines several Leadership/Management Styles including building consensus, conflict resolution, negotiation techniques on the jobsite, conducting effective meetings, interviewing and hiring, effective interviewing techniques, assessing job applicants, making good hires, managing subcontractors, employee discipline, employee appraisal, principles of resource control and jobsite pitfalls of resource control.
- Resource Management: Discussion of efficient and effective use of an organization's resources when they are needed.
- Planning and Scheduling: Series of lessons on the importance of planning, scheduling systems, preparation and analysis, case study on scheduling and will discuss Critical Path Method (CPM scheduling).
