Political Action Committee
The ARTBA Political Action Committee (ARTBA-PAC) was established in 1979 to give transportation construction executives and advocates an opportunity to participate in the federal election process and have their views heard. All funds raised by the ARTBA-PAC are used to preserve the vital role of the transportation construction industry in the American economy and to support candidates who support transportation investment.
How ARTBA-PAC Helps
The ARTBA-PAC makes small political donations go further
The ARTBA-PAC pools small, personal donations from activists in the transportation construction industry. Smaller donors become part of an industry-wide group that contributes to worthy candidates and officeholders from across the nation - well over a hundred every year.
The ARTBA-PAC is focused, just like the transportation construction industry
The ARTBA-PAC does not try to be everything to everybody. The ARTBA-PAC only contributes to candidates and officeholders who strongly support federal transportation investment, and Congressional leaders who shape the legislative process. The ARTBA-PAC does not waste your valuable donations based on issues that aren't important to the industry. Candidates hostile to ARTBA's market-building efforts don't deserve - or get - support from the ARTBA-PAC.
The ARTBA-PAC strengthens the industry's voice
The ARTBA-PAC's activities are integral to ARTBA's comprehensive advocacy program in Washington, D.C. Using the ARTBA-PAC's contributions, ARTBA officers and staff attend fundraising events every week, all year long. Each event is a unique, personal lobbying opportunity, and a chance to reinforce the industry's message with key Washington decision-makers. The ARTBA-PAC's efforts also counter the political activities of the no-growth, anti-transportation crowd.
The ARTBA-PAC helps to expand the industry's market
How? The stronger our industry can deliver its message on Capitol Hill, the more Congress will understand the importance of federal transportation investment. That's critical, because nearly half of all public capital investment in roads and bridges comes from the federal government! So the more the federal government invests, the more market opportunities your company gets.
ARTBA-PAC's Scorecard
The ARTBA-PAC supports key federal legislators who support transportation investment. As evidenced by the 2007-08 election cycle, ARTBA-PAC supported candidates have been highly successful. Nearly 90 percent of ARTBA-PAC recipients won their 2008 election.
