“Field Report”: National Survey Results of Highway/Transit Contractors on Construction Market Conditions Unveiled This Friday

Survey Measures Attitudes on Stimulus-Funded Projects & Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill

On Friday, November 13th at 10:30 a.m. (EST), the Transportation Construction Coalition will announce the results of a nationwide survey of more than 500 highway and transit contractors that gauges their perceptions on current and future construction market conditions, including the impacts of the stimulus on hiring practices, planned heavy equipment and trucks purchases, and other spending patterns.

Two national construction economists, Alison Premo Black and Ken Simonson, will explain the survey results and their significance for broader economic growth.

Ron DeFeo, chairman & CEO of Terex Corporation, one of the nation’s largest construction equipment manufacturers; Dean Word, who runs an Austin, TX-area highway construction firm; and Joy Wilson, president and CEO of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, will also be on the call to offer their perspectives on the survey, and explain why Congress should be moving soon to pass a new, multi-year highway/transit reauthorization bill.
