Monthly U.S. Transportation Construction Market Report
The monthly U.S. Transportation Construction Market Report provides the number and value of new contracts awarded each month by state and local DOTs for transportation construction projects. The data is broken out by state for highway, bridge, port and waterway, railroad and airport projects.
The value of new transportation contract awards in year to date July 2010 was down 3.2 percent compared to July 2009, to $38.6 billion.

Value of Transportation Construction Put In Place
The market intelligence reports include the monthly Value of Construction Put In Place Report, which tracks the value of construction work completed for all modes of transportation, including highways, bridges, airports, public transit systems and water transportation facilities.
In June, 2010, $12.2 billion of construction work was put in place on transportation and transportation-related construction projects. This was up 3.5 percent from $11.8 billion in June 2009 and was a record level of transportation construction activity for any June. Year-to-date through June, $52.3 billion of construction work has been put in place on transportation and related projects, up 5.0 percent compared to the first half of 2009.

Federal Highway Obligation Report
The monthly Federal Highway Obligation Report tracks state-by-state data on the amount of federal funds obligated each month for federal-aid highway and bridge projects.
As of the end of July, the Federal Highway Administration has apportioned or allocated a total of $37.7 billion of highway funds to Federal, State and local transportation agencies. With only two months to go before FY 2010 ends, a number of states have obligated only a small fraction of their FY 2010 formula funds.
