Transportation Construction Employment Report

The Transportation Construction Employment Report is a monthly update on employment in the industry.  There were 204,500 workers employed by highway and bridge contractors in January 2010. In that month, employment in highway and bridge construction fell by 14.1 percent compared to January 2010, a decline equivalent to 33,500 workers.

Construction Materials Cost

ARTBA tracks changes in material prices in the monthly Construction Material Cost Report.  The cost of highway and street construction materials was up 4.7 percent in January 2010 compared to the previous year. During the same time period, inflation, as measured by the consumer price index, was 2.6 percent.
