Washington, D.C. [March 08, 2007]—The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) has hired Jeffrey Solsby as director of public affairs. Solsby has more than a decade of political and communications experience in both the public and private sectors.

Solsby will direct ARTBA’s communications and media relations programs. He will also manage “It’s Our Future”—the association’s “inside the D.C. beltway” image and branding campaign aimed at educating policymakers about the many solid returns the transportation design and construction industry provides on the public’s investment in highway and transit infrastructure projects.

Prior to joining ARTBA, Solsby was a managing director with Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter & Associates, a Washington, D.C.-headquartered international public affairs firm. He provided strategic counsel in support of public policy, crisis communications, corporate communications and government relations efforts for major trade associations, Fortune 100 companies and large private corporations. Previously, he served in a similar capacity with Anaheim, California-based Curt Pringle & Associates, working in California and Washington, D.C., on behalf of clients such as Lennar Corporation, Yamaha Motor Corporation and a variety of California-based regional and local government organizations.

Solsby was chief of staff for California Assemblyman Todd Spitzer, and communications director for two members of Congress, including Rep. James Rogan and Rep. Mark Foley. He began his career as a college intern in the office of former California Assembly Speaker Curt Pringle, and later served as a press assistant with the 1996 Dole-Kemp presidential campaign in the California headquarters.

Solsby graduated from California State University, Chico, with a degree in U.S. history. He and his wife, Michelle, reside in Alexandria, Va., with their daughter, Corinne.

Established in 1902, ARTBA is the transportation construction industry’s most respected voice in the Nation’s Capital.
