Michael Sakata Named ARTBA

Washington, D.C. [Apr. 29, 2008]—The American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) today announced the promotion of Michael Sakata to director of information technology (IT).

In the newly created position, Sakata will manage all aspects of the association's IT services, including systems design, programming, installation and operation.  He will also oversee ARTBA's computer department, website and Internet-related activities. Sakata first joined ARTBA in 2002 as network administrator and became director of network services in March 2006.

Sakata has a B.S. in decision sciences/management information systems from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. He holds a Microsoft certified systems engineer (MCSE) designation for Windows 2003 and a Microsoft certified professional (MCP) designation in Windows 2000. 

Previously, he spent three years as a systems engineer for Trident Systems, Inc., a veteran-owned business headquartered in Virginia that provides hardware and software systems to military and commercial clients. 

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Sakata lives in Falls Church, Va., with his wife and twin daughters.
