Washington, D.C. [May 16, 2008]Senior congressional staff will present their views on SAFETEA-LU reauthorization, the looming FY 2009 Highway Trust Fund solvency crisis and other issues Tuesday, May 20, during the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) Federal Issues Program.

Republican and Democratic staff members from House and Senate committees will participate in a legislative briefing on the 2009 reauthorization of the Safe Accountable Flexible Efficient Transportation Equity Act—A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), the multi-year bill which sets policy and funding guidelines for federal surface transportation programs.

The panel discussion runs from 10:30 a.m. – 11:45 p.m., Tuesday May 20 in the “Columbia B” room, ballroom level, at the Hyatt Regency Washington DC—Capitol Hill. The hotel is located at 400 New Jersey Avenue, N.W., Washington , D.C.

Panelists will include: Kathy Dedrick, senior policy advisor for transportation, Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works majority staff; James O'Keefe, senior economist, Committee on Environment and Public Works Republican staff; James Kolb, staff director, Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, majority staff; and, Jim Tymon, staff director, Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Republican staff.
