What’s happening: ARTBA will host a virtual member working group on May 20 from 12-1 p.m. (ET) to discuss the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in transportation construction and provide the U.S. Department of Transportation with valuable insights and feedback following the agency’s recent request for information.

Why it matters: The Biden administration’s proactive stance on AI, demonstrated through a comprehensive executive order issued Nov. 1, 2023, underscores the federal government’s shared interest in this technology. ARTBA aims to capitalize on this momentum to safeguard member priorities and foster innovation. AI’s potential to enhance project delivery and safety were outlined in two recent Transportation Builder magazine articles by Jim Hanson and Pedram Oskouie of HDR and Kishan Patel of HCSS, and were a prominent topic at ARTBA’s regional meetings.

What’s next: Members interested in participating should contact ARTBA’s Prianka Sharma.
