Watch this short video on what you need to know about the upcoming Nov. 5 elections.

What’s happening: With polls showing races for the White House and Congress evenly split, the outcome of this year’s election and its implications for transportation policy remains unclear. Despite this uncertainty, electing strong supporters of infrastructure investment remains a top priority for ARTBA and its members. Regardless of the election outcome, dozens of new members of the House and Senate and a new president will be sworn in come January.

Why it matters: The next Congress will be tasked with major tax reform legislation in 2025 and renewing the highway and public transportation programs in 2026–each offering opportunities to advance ARTBA priorities. The new president will have significant influence over the fate of these initiatives.

With so much at stake, ARTBA has resources to help members make informed decisions:

  • The July-August issue of Transportation Builder offers a look at where the presidential candidates stand on transportation infrastructure issues, as well as how possible outcomes may shift the agenda in Washington.
  • ARTBA’s Grassroots Action Center makes it easy to check your voter registration, find your polling place, and see which federal candidates are on your ballot.
  • The ARTBA Transportation Investment Advocacy Center (TIAC) is tracking hundreds of state and local transportation funding ballot initiatives across the country.

What’s next:  Though control of Congress and the White House may not be clear on election night, ARTBA will provide members with a post-election report and Nov. 7 webinar, offering insights on key results and what they mean for transportation construction.
