Labor Department to Host Webinar on Apprenticeship Rule

What happened: The Department of Labor (DOL) is hosting an informational webinar Jan. 11 to discuss its proposed regulation enhancing its apprenticeship program.

Why it matters:  The DOL-registered apprenticeship program allows employers to offer paid work experience and training opportunities to job seekers who may not have requisite work skills and qualifications. DOL estimates that thirty-three percent of all apprentices are in the construction industry. The agency also proposes establishing an Office of Apprenticeship, and the development of industry standards, and industry skills frameworks.
