These simultaneous events celebrate the important work of the construction industry and promote worker safety. ARTBA member Aldridge Electric will host the May 2 safety week kickoff in Chicago. ARTBA Senior Vice President of Safety and Education Brad Sant will participate.

Concurrently, workers across the country will stop to focus on the hazards associated with working at heights during the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. Falls are the leading cause of construction fatalities: 351 workers in 2020, according to government data. The Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness to help prevent fatalities and injuries through jobsite hazard elimination reviews, safety training and incident response exercises, and personal protection equipment (PPE) inspections.
