What’s happening: The value of transportation projects expected to break ground in the next 30 to 60 days was $25.3 billion in May 2026, up from $12.6 billion a year ago. The increase was driven in part by major projects in Louisiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, and California.

Year-over-year: The value of awards was $158.6 billion for the 12 months ending May 2026, compared to $139.1 billion for the 12 months ending May 2025.
