OSHA Reporting Requirements Start Jan. 1

What happened: The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) finalized a rule amending requirements for tracking workplace illness and injuries. The rule takes effect Jan. 1, 2024.

Why it matters: The rule requires employers with 100 or more employees in the construction, manufacturing, mining, and other transportation-related industries to complete three separate sets of reports: 1) a daily log of work-related injuries and illnesses; 2) an annual summary of recordable cases; and 3) a detailed incident report following any recordable injury or illness. Businesses not mentioned above may have additional reporting obligations.
