Fact Sheet: DEA’s Proposal to Reclassify Marijuana

On May 21, 2024, the US Drug Enforcement Administration published a notice of proposed rulemaking regarding the reclassification of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act. The rule would reschedule marijuana from a Schedule I to a Schedule III controlled substance. This would modify various aspects of the consumption of the substance.
