What’s happening: ARTBA’s Federal Issues Program (FIP) kicks off May 15, covering a wide range of policy issues crucial to the transportation construction industry.

Why it matters: This annual gathering is an opportunity for ARTBA members to meet their representatives, listen to congressional, Biden administration and state agency perspectives on Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) implementation, and receive updates on federal transportation policy and regulations. Speakers and events include:

  • Brian Hogge, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and Corey Walker, Federal Transit Administration (FTA), on current design and construction policy issues at their respective agencies;
  • Carlos Braceras, executive director, Utah Department of Transportation, and Parth Oza, assistant commissioner of capital program management, New Jersey Department of Transportation, on IIJA implementation 18 months after enactment;
  • A “Perspectives on Congress” luncheon featuring Hon. Rodney Davis, former Republican congressman; and
  • The Planning & Design Division meeting with Michael Paylor, chief of the Traffic Engineering and Operations Division of the Montgomery County (Md.) Department of Transportation.

ARTBA’s Hall of Fame Dinner will induct the 2022 and 2023 classes and feature a keynote by Mike Manazir, former U.S. Navy Admiral & Top Gun pilot, currently Boeing vice president and author of ‘Learn How to Lead to Win.’

The ARTBA FIP will be immediately followed by the May 16-17 Transportation Construction Coalition Fly-In.
