Breaking it down: Some modes saw growth as major projects moved forward:

  • Annual totals were up 15 percent for bridge and tunnel awards and 3.5 percent for highways.
  • The value of rail and transit awards totaled $15.7 billion, up from $2.8 billion in 2024.
  • Major projects breaking ground in 2025 include Tampa’s Westshore Interchange, the LA Metro I-105 Express Lanes, I-35 Capital Express Central Project (Lady Bird Lake Segment) in Texas, the Frederick Douglass Tunnel in Maryland, improvement projects at the Port of Long Beach, Calif., and the Arizona I-10 reconstruction.
