What’s happening: National Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Famer Bill Walton will keynote the Sept. 12 Chairman’s Banquet during ARTBA’s National Convention in San Diego, chronicling a legendary career as center for the Portland Trailblazers and Boston Celtics, and as a national broadcaster. He will impart life lessons on leadership and overcoming adversity.Why it matters: The nation’s top college basketball star at UCLA under famed coach John Wooden, Walton played for two NBA championship teams and is one of the sport’s most recognizable and beloved figures. Walton also faced health battles throughout his life and, armed with grit and a positive outlook, overcame them all.Walton’s experiences on and off the basketball court became life lessons throughout his sports, broadcasting, and business careers.
