When contractors for two projects in Westchester County, N.Y., needed modular detour bridging and support structures, they turned to Acrow. The first project, to replace an aging structure, required an Acrow detour bridge to avoid construction-related congestion of local streets as well as a support system for the Acrow bridge. Acrow designed and supplied a two-span modular steel bridge with an overall length of 160 feet and a width of 24 feet to accommodate two lanes of traffic; support for the structure was provided by two Acrow shoring towers. Acrow’s solution, opened to traffic in August 2020, was ideally suited to the tight build area and was in place until the permanent bridge was completed in August 2021. The new bridge was opened in July 2022.

The second project in Westchester County to utilize an Acrow detour bridge was another replacement of an aging structure. Maintaining the heavily traveled route during construction was critical for access to local businesses and emergency response and Acrow designed and provided a two-span bridge as well as two shoring towers. The bridge had an overall length of 240 feet and a width of 24 feet to carry two lanes of traffic. Despite an extremely restricted launch area and an 8% longitudinal slope, traffic was shifted to the Acrow bridge in February 2021 and it was in place until the new bridge was opened in July 2022.
