Road Rehab Delivers Smoother Ride in North Central Kentucky

Challenge:
Interstate 65 which runs north and south through Kentucky is one of the busiest corridors in the country, particularly in Bullitt and Hardin Counties, where the road experiences increased wear and tear thanks to a slew new of new manufacturing jobs. The area has become home base for battery makers and shipping companies.

Solution: With help from the bipartisan infrastructure investment law, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) moved forward with a plan to rehabilitate this and other sections of the highway. The project included full removal of the concrete pavement and replacement of asphalt pavement, bridge repairs, subgrade repairs, and guardrail installation.

What they’re saying: “This project will extend the life of the interstate and improve driver comfort on the roadway.” – Local Reporter Will Whaley,  (WBKO ABC News 13, 06/16/2024)
