ARTBA joined a broad coalition of industry organizations in a coalition letter to EPA supporting the agency’s acknowledgment that the 2024 revision to the fine particulate matter (PM2.5) National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQs) was unlawful. The coalition emphasized EPA’s failure to complete a statutorily required review and to adequately consider the significant economic impacts of the revised standard, which threatened widespread nonattainment and permitting obstacles nationwide. The letter urged EPA to vacate the revised PM2.5 standard and restore a lawful, science-based framework that protects air quality without undermining economic growth or critical infrastructure investment.
