Comments to Army Corps on Nationwide Permits

ARTBA joined a broad coalition in submitting comments to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on potential future changes to the Nationwide Permit (NWP) program. The coalition supported targeted reforms to improve permitting efficiency and predictability, including increasing acreage and mitigation thresholds for low-impact activities, establishing stand-alone permits for common project types, allowing greater flexibility to combine NWPs with individual permits, and improving review timelines. The comments emphasized the critical role NWPs play in supporting transportation, energy, housing, and other infrastructure projects while maintaining appropriate environmental safeguards.
