Supporting the Continued Use of the Buy America Waiver for Manufactured Products

ARTBA sent a letter to Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration regarding the agency’s review of its general applicability waiver for manufactured products under Buy America waiver authorities. Among the comments:

• ARTBA supports Buy America’s rationale of strengthening U.S. manufacturing. In fact, our members fully share the objective of developing domestic sources for – ideally – all the products they need for transportation construction.
• Our members consider this waiver critical to delivering federal-aid highway projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• 81 Percent of Contractors Anticipate More Time and Cost without the Waiver.
